Charity Wine Auction Permit

  • Who can apply for a Charity Wine Auction permit?
    • A registered charitable organization in Maryland can apply for this permit to host a wine auction event.
  • What details must be provided for the application?
    • The applicant must provide the organization’s name, the location of the event, event date, and federal identification number, among other details.
  • What are the conditions for holding the event?
    • The applicant must comply with all Maryland laws regarding alcohol sales at charity events. A permit is valid only for the date specified.
  • What are the fees for this permit?
    • The permit fee is $10. In addition a prepayment of tax is required to the Comptroller’s Office within seven days of the date of the auction. Ensure you include the correct payment when submitting the application.
  • How long is the application process from start to finish?
    • An applicant can complete filling out the application form in 1-3 minutes.
    • Upon receipt of the completed application and required payment, the verification and determination on issuing said application may take 10-30 business days.
