The ATCC wishes everyone a Happy Halloween! The ATCC wants to alert parents and guardians of certain illicit and unregulated products containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that may appear similar to consumer goods or otherwise appeal to children. . The ATCC, in the course of our enforcement activity, have confiscated illicit products containing THC that may mimic or appear similar to other commercially available consumer goods.
Below are some examples of products that have been seized by the ATCC that are commercially available in Maryland that may present confusion for children and adults. These products are illegal, untested, unregulated and potentially intoxicating.
What To Watch For

Misspelled brand names
or off-color packaging

Edibles or gummies labeled with cannabis terms such as “THC,” “CBD,” or “Infused”, and

Unfamiliar candies or snacks that seem “too adult” for kids.
Examples of Illicit Products Seized
If You Suspect An Issue:
- Do not let your child consume the product.
- If you suspect that you or your child may have ingested a suspicious item, call the Maryland Poison Center, available 24/7, immediately at 1-800-222-1222.

Parents Are Encouraged To:
- Supervise candy sorting before consumption,
- Discard any unsealed, unfamiliar, or questionable items, and
- Remind children to never eat anything not given directly by someone they trust.
